4 DAYS MOUNT MERU

Prepare for your adventure with a pre-trek briefing at your Arusha hotel. Opting for our optional airport transfers ensures seamless transportation from Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport to your accommodation. Arriving at least one day before the trek is recommended. During the briefing, we’ll review your equipment and arrange any necessary rentals from local shops.

Embark on your journey with a scenic drive from Arusha to Momella Gate, approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes away. Once at the gate, we’ll complete necessary procedures before commencing the trek. Traverse through captivating landscapes offering breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the renowned Momella lakes. Keep an eye out for wildlife encounters with Bushbucks, Cape Buffaloes, Giraffes, and Warthogs along the way. The day’s trek concludes at Miriakamba Hut, providing accommodation amidst stunning surroundings.

Today’s trek leads you through a steep path along the ridge of the saddle, offering glimpses of the stunning Meru crater, ash cone, and little Meru. Encounter wildlife such as Cape Buffaloes and black and white Colobus monkeys along the way. Reach Saddle Hut, where you’ll settle in before embarking on a short acclimatization trek to little Meru (3810m) and returning to Saddle Hut.

Begin the day’s adventure just after midnight with a light meal to fuel your ascent to Socialist Peak. Navigate steep gravel and rocky cliffs on the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. Revel in the magnificent views of the Meru Crater and Ash cone from the summit. Descend to Miriakamba Hut, where you’ll spend the night.

After breakfast, continue your descent to Momella Gate, opting for the southern route for a change of scenery. Pass through the astonishing Fig Tree Arch before reaching the gate. Our Monkey Adventures vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to your Arusha hotel, approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes away.
